  • Recovery and sleep

The approach

How Irika approaches muscle gain

  1. Protein that adds up

For people training to build muscle, sports nutrition evidence supports around 1.4–2.0 g of protein per kg of body weight a day, spread over several meals.

  2. Enough fuel

Muscle is hard to build in a big calorie deficit. A modest surplus usually helps, without overdoing it.

  3. Food first, supplements second

Whey or plant protein powders can be convenient. Creatine monohydrate is well researched, but whether it suits you depends on your health — we'll talk it through.
