The approach

How Irika approaches sports nutrition

  1. Fuel for the work required

Sports nutrition position statements tailor carbohydrate to training load and suggest roughly 1.2–2.0 g of protein per kg of body weight a day for athletes. Easy days and hard days don't need the same plate.

  2. Practise in training

Race-day food and drinks should be tested in training first — never something new on the day.

  3. Supplements, carefully

A few supplements have good evidence, many don't, and some are contaminated. Competitive athletes should choose batch-tested products and check anti-doping rules.

What happens next

  1. Say hello on WhatsApp

A line about what you'd like help with is plenty. You'll get available times and current fees before anything is booked.

  2. Your first consultation

Usually 45–60 minutes, online or in person in Mumbai. We go through your health, routine and goals.

  3. Your personalised plan

Built around your food, your kitchen and your week — shared with you digitally.

  4. Follow-ups that adjust

Shorter check-ins (20–30 minutes) to review progress and fine-tune the plan.

Questions

Common questions about sports nutrition

What should I eat before an early morning run?

Something small and easy to digest, such as a banana, toast or a few dates, 30–60 minutes before. Longer or harder sessions may need more. Practise it in training.

Do I need sports drinks?

For long sessions — usually over 60–90 minutes — or heavy sweating, they can help. For shorter workouts, water and regular meals are usually enough.

Are supplements safe for competitive athletes?

Some carry a risk of contamination with banned substances. Choose third-party batch-tested products and check your federation's anti-doping rules before taking anything.
